Congratulations Lewis Wing who has won the Goal of the season award for Middlesbrough. His unstoppable strike against Crystal Palace was an outright winning choice which was more than deserved considering it was also his first goal for the club. A remarkable rise from non league to playing regularly in the Sky Bet Championship. Well done Wingy.

May 01, 2019
NORWICH City are delighted to announce a special celebration match will be held at Carrow Road at the end of the season to thank former Canary stars Wesley Hoolahan and Russell Martin for their fantastic service to the Club.
Hoolahan and Martin played leading roles in some of the most memorable seasons in modern Norwich City history, including the meteoric rise from League One to the Premier League between 2009 and 2011, three successive top-flight seasons between 2011 and 2014 and the Sky Bet Championship Play-off Final triumph at Wembley in 2015.
Monday, May 6 is the date for every Canary fan’s diary, as ‘Team Wes’ will take on ‘Team Russ’ in a star-studded match (kick-off 3pm) to benefit the Community Sports Foundation and the former players’ chosen charities.
Hoolahan’s chosen charities are Stepping Stones of Norwich and Temple Street Hospital in Dublin, while Martin is supporting the Russell Martin Foundation and Crohns and Colitis UK.
A host of former City stars are set to come back to play in the game, when both sides will wear the 2011-12 Premier League Norwich City kit – Team Wes lining up in green and Team Russ wearing yellow. The names of the players taking part will be revealed as we build up to the big game.
Tickets for the match go on sale from tomorrow (see full information attached) and the Club hopes for a bumper crowd, as we all join together to celebrate and thank these two modern Canary legends for their massive contributions to the green and yellow cause.
Hoolahan said: “I’m really looking forward to the game and delighted that Russ and I can play in this celebration match and get a send-off and chance to say goodbye to the fans together. The Club have been great to us and it will be wonderful to get some legends and old players who’ve I’ve played with over the last 10 years together, and I am really looking forward to it.”
Martin commented: “For me the game is a brilliant chance to say goodbye properly to the fans and to catch up again with all the people at the Club, the staff and the players, who supported me during my time at Norwich City. All of my friends and family will be there too so it’s going to be a great day – and to be part of it with Wes as well makes it perfect.”
City Chief Operating Officer Ben Kensell said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming these two legends back for the game in May. It’s going to be a special day for two very special players and we hope as many fans as possible will come and be part of the occasion.”

Wesley Hoolahan, Hoolahan, Wesley Hoolahan!
Irish international midfielder Wes Hoolahan made 352 appearances and scored 54 goals for City in a ten-year spell from 2008 to 2018. He stands joint 16th in the all-time Norwich City appearances list, level with Daryl Sutch.
Hoolahan gained 43 caps for the Republic of Ireland and represented his country in the European Championship Finals in 2016. He won the League One title with City in 2010, a Championship runners-up medal in 2011 and achieved a 100% pass completion rate as City won the 2015 Championship Play-Off Final against Middlesbrough at Wembley.
He scored amidst emotional scenes in his final game for the Canaries, a 2-1 win over Leeds at Carrow Road in May 2018. He subsequently joined West Bromwich Albion.
Hoolahan was voted into the PFA League One Team of the Year in 2009-10, the PFA Championship Team of the Year 2010-11 and the Football League Team of the Decade in 2015. He also won the Norwich City Barry Butler Trophy as Player of the Season in 2016-17. He was also inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame in 2012.
Oh Russell Martin, the Norfolk Cafu!
Scottish international defender and former Club Captain Russ Martin clocked up 309 games and found the net 17 times for City between 2009 and 2018. He stands 22nd in the all-time list of Norwich City appearances and holds the record for the number of Premier League games played for Norwich City with 125 under his belt.
Martin gained 29 caps for Scotland after making his international debut in 2011.
He also won a League One winners medal in 2010 and was part of the team which finished runners-up in the Championship a year later. As Captain, he lifted the Sky Bet Championship Play-off Final trophy for City at Wembley in 2015 after that win over Middlesbrough. In doing so, he became only the second-ever Norwich City captain to lift a trophy on behalf of the Club at the national stadium.
Martin was runner-up to Grant Holt for the Barry Butler Trophy in 2010-11 having played every minute of every game that season. He was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year in 2014-15. Martin moved on from Norwich to join Walsall as a player/coach earlier this season.
