Barry Bannan

Sheffield Wednesday

Barry Bannan is a tenacious Scotland international central midfielder. He is a key player for club and country, known for his tough tackling and wide passing range. Having come through Aston Villa’s academy, Barry made his debut for the Villains in 2008 before spending time on loan at Derby County, Blackpool and Leeds United in the Championship. While with Blackpool he helped the Tangerines achieve promotion to the Premier League by defeating Cardiff City in the play-off final. Barry’s Villa break came under Alex McLeish in 2011, when he became a Premier League regular. He retained his place in the side until a move to newly-promoted Crystal Palace in 2013. One of the highlights of his time with the London club was scoring a vital winner away at Hull City. After a loan spell with Bolton Wanderers, Barry signed for Sheffield Wednesday in a permanent deal. Since then he has established himself as one of the league's most influential midfielders, playing a pivotal role as the Owls reached the Championship play-off final in 2016 and the play-off semi-finals in 2017.

“I have a great relationship with the lads at SMI and I trust them to help me make the best decisions for my career. They are experts in the business and have been there and done it themselves, which you simply cannot teach.”
