Dave Mackay

No-nonsense defender Dave continued to play at the highest level of Scottish football right until his retirement.

The centre-back spent five years with Dundee before moving to Oxford United in 2004.

After missing just two league games in one season with Oxford Dave joined Livingston, where he made more than 100 appearances in four years.

He signed for St Johnstone in 2009 and established himself as a key man and club captain, leading them to victory in the 2014 Scottish Cup final, the Saints' first ever major trophy success.

Dave also appeared in the Europa League in four consecutive seasons for St Johnstone and was described by team-mate Steven Anderson as “the best uncapped player in Scotland."

When his playing days ended in 2016 he was appointed manager of Stirling Albion.

I had an absolutely brilliant time playing in Scotland and I know the SMI lads are aware of what a great league system it is to play in.

To have the honour of lifting St Johnstone’s first-ever major trophy was incredible and there are lots of exciting clubs to play for in Scotland. Whatever level of the game you play at, SMI are the right choice to guide you along your way.
