Leon Constantine

Powerful striker Leon scored 101 in well over 300 senior appearances in a career that saw him represent 16 English and Scottish league and non-league clubs.

He was already 22 when he was spotted by Millwall while playing for Edgeware Town in 2000. After loans including a brief spell with Patrick Thistle, Leon joined Southend United, where his sensational form helped the side reach the final of the Football League Trophy.

In his single season with the Essex club, 2003/04, he blasted 25 goals in 53 appearances, alerting a number of rivals to his talents.

He moved to Peterborough United but was loaned to Torquay United, who were impressed enough to fork out a club record £100,000 for his signature. In 2005 he joined Port Vale, where his 38 goals in just 18 months included 27 in his first season, 2005/06.

That record brought about a move to Leeds United, but he suffered a series of injuries. However, he went on to score goals for Oldham, Northampton, Cheltenham Town, Hereford United and York City before ending his career.

Leon is now SMI’s representative in London and the south-east of the country.

Football brings with it amazing opportunities to have a life most others can only dream of, but there are also many, many potential hazards along the way. I’ve seen talented players fall by the wayside and part of my role with SMI is to ensure the young players we look after avoid that fate and have the best careers they can. I believe SMI have the best people in place to help them do that.
