Another former Bristol City player who played with Lee Matthews and Joe Burnell. Clayton started his career at Tottenham Hotspur before signing his first professional contract with Bristol City. He made his debut on December 4th 2001 replacing Joe Burnell in a game vs Peterborough United in the League Trophy. Clayton went on to play 53 times for City before a loan move to Port Vale. Clayton left City and trialled with Derby County and QPR before deciding to sign for Leyton Orient before another loan spell with Port Vale. A short stint at Darlington and another very short loan at Rushden And Diamonds saw Clayton sign for Weston Super Mare. Further moves to Aldershot, Clevedon Town, Mangotsfield United and Chippenham Town before returning to Clevedon Town then Weston Super Mare before signing for Hereford but didn't make an appearance and decided to retire from the game. 

A highly experienced pro with a vast knowledge of the game from top to lower leagues that will give SMI another dimension of recruitment in the South. Another with many contacts still in the game that is well respected by his former team mates and fellow ex pros.
